Overview
Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide and selective agonist of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). It was developed by Novo Nordisk and is characterized by its high selectivity for GH release with minimal effect on other pituitary hormones such as cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH.
Mechanism
Ipamorelin binds to the GHS-R1a receptor, stimulating GH release from the anterior pituitary. Unlike other GH secretagogues, it demonstrates high selectivity, producing a clean GH pulse without significant cortisol or prolactin elevation in research models.
